The SAR is dedicated to honoring and preserving America's heritage, including those who serve our nation. This includes:

Honoring individuals for outstanding and unusual patriotic achievement on a national, regional and local level

Honoring persons for outstanding bravery and self sacrifice in the face of imminent danger

Honoring members of the United States Congress for outstanding service to the nation

Honoring outstanding high school students annually with the presentation of a Good Citizenship Award

Honoring outstanding Junior and Senior ROTC cadets annually with the presentation of the ROTC Award

Honoring Law Enforcement officials for outstanding service with the Law Enforcement Award

Selecting an outstanding Eagle Scout annually at the chapter, state and national level. The national winner receives a college scholarship

Assisting veterans in Veterans Hospitals

Conducting a national historical orations contest annually

Sponsoring Boy Scout troops and societies of the Children of the American Revolution

Placing SAR Markers at the grave sites of Revolutionary War Patriots and SAR Members

Commemorating Revolutionary War Patriots with appropriate ceremonies

Participating in new citizenship swearing-in ceremonies

Observing patriotic anniversaries

Cooperating with the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Children of the American Revolution and other hereditary organizations in the promoting of patriotism
